3 Islands Intermodal provides integrated port, logistics and freight forwarding services across New Zealand.
Our network brings together port operations, container services, inland depots, warehousing, transport and freight forwarding. This gives customers access to connected capability across multiple points in the supply chain, supported by experienced people, national reach and practical operating knowledge.
Our integrated business supports customers with wharf-side cargo handling, inland transport, containers sales and leasing, container storage and modification, warehousing, 3PL services, project cargo and air and sea freight forwarding.
Since 2024, 3 Islands has evolved from a wharf-side port services business into a fully intermodal operator, expanding its port operations from eight to eleven and integrating inland depot and container operations through the 2025 Boxman acquisition.
Ports
Port services across New Zealand’s major trade gateways
Our ports division handles the discharge and loading of bulk, breakbulk, project and container cargo across New Zealand’s major ports.
We support a broad range of cargo types, including renewable energy where safe handling, planning and port-side operating discipline are critical, bulk commodities, foodstuffs, biomass, metal recycling and scrap, forestry products and vehicle discharge.
Our port operations span eleven major New Zealand ports with activity at Marsden Point, Auckland, Tauranga, Napier, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin and Bluff.
Logistics
Inland logistics, depots and container capability
Our Logistics division provides origin-to-port and origin-to-destination solutions for bulk and specialist cargoes, alongside nationwide container movements, warehousing, inland transport and distribution.
Following the 2025 acquisition of Boxman assets and contracts, the division includes six depots that handle container sales, hire, storage, and modification.
Logistics capability includes short-term and long-term warehouse storage, dangerous goods handling, 3PL, pick and pack, palletising, airport cartage, domestic and international logistics, and container repairs and modifications.
Current depot locations include Wiri in South Auckland, Mount Maunganui, Napier, Wellington, Nelson, and Christchurch Airport.
Freight Forwarding
Co-ordinating cargo into, out of and around New Zealand
Our freight forwarding division co-ordinates the movement of cargo by air and sea into and out of New Zealand.
This capability is supported by our wider physical ports and logisitics network, helping customers co-ordinate complex cargo movements across sea, land and air and connect freight forwarding with port and inland logistics services.
